It clings to you like spider to web,
When whole it is your life,
Not visible, but clearly felt,
It gives you hope in strife.
Over time it just grows stronger,
Some glimpse it, but not it’s whole,
Not even you can read it all,
Or write it down to scroll.
The danger lies when no one sees,
Swoops down, with open claws,
It’s ripped out of your being,
Heartless: as if with saws.
Without it you are lifeless,
Although life lingers still,
Identity is who you are,
You love, your life, your will.

Interesting piece, perceptive and thoughtfully written. I liked the third stanza's expressiveness best.
Keep writing.
