It's okay to ask

Contributed by Archie on Friday, 30th September 2005 @ 06:47:16 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

If you have not seen me in a while
and you just want to talk
It's okay to say Archie
can we just go for a walk

I know I may seem busy
formulating plans
and I lose sight of things sometimes
for I am but a man

If it seems that I've forgotten things
that we said we would do
a gentle reminder will not hurt

What I'm saying to you now
I thought you already knew
as my friend you had only to ask

If I don't know
I can not help you

and many times
I can be dense

It is not wrong
for you to call me

reminding me
of what comes next

If you just up and leave me
and you say that I don't care
without giving me half a chance

All that I can say in response to you
you had only to ask

What you need I probably would give to you
if you would only ask

I would agree with you that it speaks for itself. People often forget that all they need to do is ask. You reminded me of the same words that my mom said to me so long ago

I really like this one Archie. It's honest and direct. Friendships are very important, and it's a real shame when something silly comes between one.
Good job, and I hope things are worked out between you and your friend...

Archie, you have written the anthem for every man in their relationships with others. I will think of it the next time I am accused of being vague, indifferent, uncaring, insensitive, self-absorbed, aloof (the list goes on).......

  • I love the way this was portrayed.
Such simple meaning behind it all,
but so true, and often many of us forget it.

    Another great write!

After all, we're only humans, with limited minds. Still, this is, for me a reminder, that i should look before the asking.
    Take care.
