Tired of arguing with you
I close my eyes
As I begin to fall asleep
I hear a booming in my mind

Instantly my eyes
They flash awake
As I look around
I see the room is dark and empty

Once again I close my eyes
And once again I hear a booming in my mind
This time I do not awake
Silently I lay there knowing it is just my mind
Now I begin to drift off into a tormented sleep
I toss and turn from my delusions

I can see you standing there
Screaming at me with drunken rage
I stand before you pleading
Please don't hurt me
Please don't hit me
I tell you I'm sorry for what I didn't do right
Crying
I still beg for you not to hurt me
I still beg for you not to hit me

With a crushing, violent smack you hit me
And knock me to the ground
Over and over you beat me
Like a little rag doll
Finally the beating stops

My cheeks are stained with tears
My lips is busted
And my mouth is bloody
My eyes are black and blue
There are bruises from my head to my toes
Every bone in my little body feels like it's been crushed in a vice
But I think to myself
I am the lucky one
I HAVE SURVIVED

Great write. You have good perception into the lives of others or you are very brave. In either case 5 stars

Wow, its been awhile since I have read something that has choked me up. I just got out of an abusive relationship for 4 years.....I cried myself to sleep every night for a year. But as a man, you dont ususally go around telling your homeboys that my FIANCE is beating the ***** out of me! Thats at the point I thought suicide was the best option

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
