I Can't Believe She's Gone

A close friend died today
One who was always by my side
A cheerful companion, So full of Life
Love and unending trust
She use to wake up every day
Ready to take on any challange
I guess I should have read the signs
Should have noticed her dull eyes
Where once there was light
Should have seen her distant gaze
Took time to notice the pervading
Sense of sadness that surrounded her
She's gone now, and I feel as though
A piece of me is missing
And while I sometimes think
I feel her there
It's only a ghost pain
Much like those experienced
By one who's lost a limb, or in my case
A part of their soul.

This poem was very heartrending. You can tell the narrator really felt for their friend. It was wonderful |
