What beauty is?
Is there a simple answer?
To someone a flower is God's masterpiece,
To others, the naked human body.
Some people say,
"How beautiful's the sea!"
Or sky, or dusk, or dawn...
How beautiful a bird's song is!
How beautiful is silence...
So I'm confused
With beauty all around...
What beauty is?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a wise person said. I like this poem very much. Thank you. |

'Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder' is no longer politically correct (like we give a damn) due to opposition of various physical/mental/visually impaired(challenged?) challenging the definition. I'd say the beauty is whatever that gives joy to your heart. Dictionary may call it aesthetically pleasing to any or all senses(sight, taste, smell, sound, mind). This poem for example. |

Bueaty is what you define it to be. All those things you have named have there own bueaty in there own place, but what do you see as bueaty is what is most important to you. |

St. Augustin says:
Oh Beauty! Oh Beauty - Beauty of all Beauties, why have I not found Thee earlier?"

Author's Note
Dear fellows,
The reason why I wrote this poem was not to ask a rhetorical question but to emphasize that beauty is an intangible concept and seeking to defind it, we tend to lose its mysterie.
Thanks,
Alex |

You want to know what beauty is? Beauty is the way you write. Sublime.
