You were my friend, you made me smile.
For you I would have walked a thousand miles.
I would have been there through the years, through the tears.
I would have helped you through all your trials.
Your eyes made me grin, your smile made me melt;
I never knew I could feel the way that I felt.
Dreams coming true made me think of you,
And I couldn’t believe the fortune I’d been dealt.
I should’ve seen it coming, but I was too blind-
You had always been so thoughtful and kind.
I never expected I’d be rejected
The shock of it all baffled my mind.
I couldn’t believe it, but I knew it was true.
I was no longer important to you.
I tried not to cry or wonder why
But it still hurt that you found someone new.
I try to ignore it; I can’t let you know,
But these emotions are just so hard not to show.
I gave you my heart, you tore it apart,
And now I must learn how to let go.
