Mermaid Dreams

Contributed by gwenevere on Monday, 26th September 2005 @ 03:26:36 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Sleepy is the mermaid, on the ocean bed
Oyster shell her resting place, lays her weary head
Sea horses her guardians, waiting for her call
Such a lovely maiden, delicate and small

Gently she then closes eyes and drifts slowly away
Finds herself in dreamland, a place, another day
A handsome prince is waiting there, just to take her hand
And on her finger places a sea pearl and gold band

He kisses her and tells her his love for her is true
That he will stay for ever in sea of aqua blue
But consciousness is pulling her and telling her to wake
Poor sweet gentle mermaid, she feels her heart wil break

She wakes and cries so softly, her love she left behind
Was just Imagination, a figment in her mind
Mermaid dreams of true love, a wish of what could be
She thinks that she will be alone for all eternity

Then suddenly, she rubs her eyes, is she asleep again?
Her prince is right before her, oh, is it really him
He broke the chains of dreamland, to be with her once more
For ever they will be now, and rule the sea and shore
