The rabbit is just a monkey in disguise."
The cheap magician is just trying to confuse us with his meaningless tricks.
So meaningles, that he himself has already lost interest.
No magical beanstalks
or those pretty big top hats.
No fake flowers out of a sleeve or colorful tissues growing between one's gloved fingertips.
Only blinding stage lights that are the 'universe's' only form of intimidation.
No audience-only voices
No applause-only cheap tape recordings
Such is life
A cheap allusion for one's dementia.
Not real
No magic - no miracles
Only a simplistic maze disguised by invisible twists and turns
No wonder so many magicians are mad
We are all crazy at heart
It is just a matter of disguising that madness with plastic tricks.
'Sanity is just insanity put to good use'

i like it, and a poem doesn't have to be good to rhyme....
it is very straightforward, and the metaphor works, but the rythymn could be improved a tad... |
