war at hand

Topic: LostLove

Round and silver around my thumb,
Life circles a cancerous lump.
A five-year war has ended,
Battle men rest in bed,
Memories and flash backs in our head,
Of yells and grabbing for shelter,
My index finger felt her hair.
The warm sun hits the window,
But if you look in my pocket you’ll find a picture,
No widow,
Battle ended for that picture.

The scared ones died,
The survivor’s brain fried.
All the killers remain,
But me I just lay there in pain.

Blue sky,
Reminds me of birds that fly.
As they cross chemical gas,
Take a breath for the last.
Fall down with the rest,
Feel the newborns best.
With strangers on the field,
With men touching her with no yield.
Dirty dirt,
Flirty flirt.
I come out to say hi,
And come back in saying die.

The scared ones died,
The survivor’s brain fried.
The killers remain,
But me, I just lay there in pain.

Letters and calls where the best to talk,
Sounded real and felt as if we went for a walk.
But day after day and night after night,
The dead mans skin turn gray with fright.
So when my body is shipped back,
Leave it alone and burn it until its black.
Did you want to see me lie?
Did you want to see me die?
When you said it was ok,
I felt so far from you that day.
