Running around bare feet, in my shorts
amongst the mango trees
The green mangoes down so low
that I reach up, take a small bite
and leave it still hanging there
Fences around the orchard,
I am sure, are meant to keep
the cows and buffaloes strolling in
I can find my way inside
easily from any tiny breach
Peacocks, parrots and koels
all feasting on mangoes, as free as me
Sitting up high in mighty tamarind tree
I survey the grandeur of my kingdom
mighty pleased with what I see
The smell of mango and tamarind flowers
in cool gentle summer breeze
feel of watered ground on my feet
lazying there listening to music of the birds
in shades of these mighty trees
I am the master of this kingdom
It's me who decides, which tree to conquer
which bird can stay and which I chase
There's nothing more in this world
that I could ask, than to rule here forever

Nicely told story here, and the images you've described match with those stories my dad used to tell me of his childhood and the things he was able to do, how he lived so carefree and happy. Such an upbeat poem that depicted such a splendid place. Excellently done, and might I add that was a really noticeable title, lol kudos for that too. |
