If you told me I was beautiful
I'd believe it were a lie
If you told me that you loved me
I would question why
If you looked into my eyes
And said you could see through
I'd hide a little deeper
To make you more confused
If you gently clasped my hand in yours
And promised me a life so bliss
I'd believe you had a motive
Just to steal my kiss
If you whispered in my ear
Sweet-nothings in disguise
I'd pretend to see right through
And pass them off as lies
If you held me in your arms
And said your love was true
I'd wish my lips un-sewn
To say 'I love you too'
But if you kept your promise
And didn't hurt me so
Our love would still be strong
Not lost so long ago

Reading this is so easy....you wrote this poem beautifully....
I think I have thought the same in some situations in my life so could relate...
