Right Or Wrong

What profit has a man from fight
Since any quarrel isn't right?
I don't let hatred last too long
For I'm never sure who's wrong.
Resentment, grudge - a friend is lost;
It's the price; it's conflict's cost.
I'd rather give my friend a kiss
Than lose the friend who I'll miss.
To be at one with all my brothers
Is more important than oppressing others.
To take a stand or fixed position
Is on my mind but not my mission.

It is better to say one word to yourself in a silent room than a thousand words to anyone else if the end result is hostility.
" For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses
his own soul?" ( the Bible) Also "Blessed are the peacemakers!"
I like the last two lines of this poem especially. Good job.

Hey Alex, who have you been quarreling with? Now I agree with all the brotherly love and all, but strictly no kisses.
All smiles

I think your poem is better than the rating it has. Thanks and don't worry friends forgive one another- just don't kiss me |

the thesis of the first 2 lines
is not wholly true ...
for the antithesis can also be true
and yet,
what price can a conflict cost
when they are but words on a screen?
still tho, a good write nonetheless

I don't mind a kiss or two.Seriously though, life is too short for conflict and it's good to have such a friendly community as yp.Keep on writing everyone and good luck, Ros |

I don't even know what to say, apart from this. I love the way you write. And I hardly ever use the word 'love' anymore.
Yours.

All conflict is not bad. I know people shy from confrontation, but I embrace it when people are decent enough to stay tactful. I personally enjoy confrontation because it forces thought.
It's fine to sit on a fence, but if none of us had a mission to take a stand the world would be at a stand still. |
