Your tense and ready,
Testing yourself out,
You stretch and drink your water,
As you skip and jump about,
Slip on your uniform,
You're ready to play,
"I can do it, I can do it,"
You again start to say,
Swing your arms up over your head,
Make sure your calves are loose,
You want to be in perfect shape,
Not a foolish floppy goose,
Tie your shoes tight,
And no broken bones,
Slip on your wrist band,
You feel as comfy as home,
You leave the locker room,
Set to play very hard,
You lick your lips nervously,
Ready to pull out the agressive card,
The ball in your hands,
Feels like you were born with it,
Nothing feels more right,
Nothing else seems to fit,
They announce your name,
As you walk on the court,
The whole crowd stands and claps,
This is your love, this sport,
You wave proudly,
As you meet the remainder of your team,
If you don't loose your tension now,
Your aggressiveness with turn mean,
Shaking hands and on the court,
The excitment you can't stand,
You get ready to jump,
After the reff shakes your hand,
The ball flies up,
They get the ball instead,
You mess it all up,
Then you wake up in that hospital bed.

lovely poem and deffinately most effective in it's anticipation and expectation, very compelling in it's direction as though being led by a partner in a dance 2 a sychopated rhythum, nicely done . . .
