Unidentified

Contributed by Nazmythian on Thursday, 22nd September 2005 @ 03:15:03 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I felt caught
within the grasp of

something.
What it was
I could not say.
For it existed
beyond the realms
of consciousness and
eluded all attempts of

identification.

It left within me
a sense of

emptiness,
not hopelessness
for I felt certain
what I sought lay
just beyond my reach.
It was more an unfulfilled

longing.

While I could not say
that I was

terrified,
apprehension somehow
seemed to fit.
Yet the vagueness
of the sensation, served
only to add to an overwhelming

need.

Stretching further
I reached out again,

determined.
My eyes were closed,
focused on some area
of secluded inner peace.
And there within the darkness
I found a comforting

voice.

My heartbeat stilled.
Breath came more easily.

Reassured,
I knew now, I was
not facing this alone.
There was another
somewhere out there ~
perhaps within me, that

understood.

Ah, dearest naz. How did this one elude me? I was here today
reading your story and failed to see this. Wonderful and poetic
as always, scotty. Beautiful beyond words. Flawless and inspiring.
And so very profound. It's almost like something that everyone
is longing for and no one can seem to express nor to find.
Well done nazzy. Again!

Lights dim........take a bow!

This one hit me right between the eyes. That sense of longing...I can relate so well. All the mistakes we make trying to find answers on this earth, when they truly lie beyond and, yes, within ourselves, if we know where to look and "whom" to look to. I think you mean "who" understood there in the last line.
Hey, only one grammatical correction.
