Sunset Sonata

Contributed by Adreana on Wednesday, 24th July 2002 @ 01:28:57 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The sky is a melting pot of radiant colors.
Blue converges with gray which dives into yellow.
Yellow becomes a luscious peach turning pink
And pink is softly resting on a violet hue
Which carries everything gently to the horizon.

My eyes soak in this scene before it washes away
Into a black space cluttered with specks of bright white.

The lake spread below this natural painting
Reflects each detail with perfect grace.
Its water lies still, resembling a clean glass mirror.

The tall grass hugging its shores sways in a cool breeze
Creating a sweet melody which I cannot imitate.

I sit for a moment longer allowing myself to forget
All that I have been worrying about lately.
I hug my knees close to my chest and breathe in deeply.

I thank the colors in the sky for gracing me with their presence.
I compliment the lake on its keen ability to imitate.
I praise the breeze and the grass on their musical collaboration.

And as everything darkens I rise to my feet and walk away.

Goodnight wonderous world.
