Up on your shoulders,
greatest feeling in the world.
My feet are on the ground now,
and I'm not your little girl.
Your lack or presence,
why even bother?
A stuffed toy, you know,
is no substitute for a father.
I think of you at special times,
I even wonder if I cross your mind.
Yet I manage to smile and break into a laugh,
I couldn't have a better life.
But I can't help but wonder....
How could such a strong man give me up, without thinking twice?
I still laugh, only not at your stupid jokes,
my mother married a much better bloke.
Sure, I may not be his, but at least I know he cares,
at least more than a father that was never there.
