The book of the ages ( part 2 )

Contributed by Archie on Monday, 19th September 2005 @ 08:46:37 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Do you trust that we live in a historical age
where the truth of everything is written down
Do you trust that the generations who come after you
will be given an acurate account
of the dipensations of which we have lived
that encompasses our great expirience?
Do you think when they read of the things that we have done
they will see the truth of our lives and believe it?

Do you think theres a book that can readily describe
everything that we face in human nature?
Do you think theres a book that can give us a choice
from the vices that ruin charecter?
Is there some place to look where examples of of others
can teach us how to live life on the earth?
Can there possibly be any scroll, text or guide
that can be of that valuable worth

I searched the libraries of earth in order to find wisdom
to conquer what I feared in me in order to have freedom
No one could answer questions that I had with in my heart
No one had wisdom to give to me or knowledge to impart

I found a book that seems to stand outside of time
to help me overcome my fear and folly
It's pages are filled with great examples of life
to help me live my life abundantly

I found a book that seems to know how people act
with in it, I found no deceit
through out the years it's words have become facts
that I have come to trust and believe

I see its chrarecters make mistakes
I see the vices that trap men
I see a path unto escape
I see a recompense

I sought through life to find answers
and found the book of the ages
I sought to find a way to live
it's hidden on it's pages

Opinions formed about this book
just like it had predicted
and yet for those who read its words
they find their life impacted

It teaches how to raise children
It shows how to forgive
It shows us how to build charecter
It teaches us how to live

A hundred years from now when I
am dead and gone to sleep
It still will form deviding lines
it's student life to teach

A million people will shout and say it has no relevance
yet to the one who seeks the truth he'll find in it guidance

***** **** ***** **** ***** **** ***** **** ***** **** ***** **** ***** ****

Get past the rules
Get past what you don't want to do
Look at the tales
do they make sense unto you
They're people too
like me and you
if you can find the lessons in their stories
you'll understand the rules

It's many tales on how we should act..
..a far long forgotten..forlorn..critisised
and otherwise srutinized tale of the begotten..

It is the Bible.

Thoughts and prayers to you my friend..

Great write, as always. All books contain life changing insights into our lives, religious texts in particular. They all started out with very good intentions, along the way came priests/mullahs to interpret it for us, some of them got it all wrong, you seem to have got it right.

So very true . And just like history books the answers are there. If we read them, we can avoid making the same mistakes over and over again. This was a long write but I didn't get lost in it like some long writes. Kudos!
Thumps ;o)
