I know you could be beautiful,
If only you would try,
Just wipe away the circles,
That live under your eyes.
Push aside that frown,
And give yourself a smile,
I know that you can be beautiful,
If only for a while.
Your eyes will really twinkle,
If you dry away those tears,
You do not need the sadness,
It piles on the years.
Breathe, just for a moment,
Brush the hair back from your face,
Let me see that smile,
It's the epitome of grace.
I hope you can believe it,
See what I can see,
For though you look just 'normal'
You're so beautiful to me.
I know it sounds cliche,
But your beauty is inside,
You're as beautiful as nature,
You should never try to hide.
[But your smile makes you stunning,
When you do it with your eyes,
So I wish you'd smile more,
And hope you'll smile inside.]
But even when you frown,
you're always beautiful,
To me.

A smile can transform anyone into a stunning beauty in my mind. Seeing the inner radiance appear is miraculous. Your words are so very true for many many people. Smiling can even make you feel better inside and just might make the difference in someone else's day.
Smiling at you,
Rita |

Touching and beautiful. And very true. This is an important message, and I hope that those who truly need it will take it to heart.
You're as beautiful as nature,
You should never try to hide.
I liked those lines a lot.

I'll just say ditto to everything Andrew said. He's spot on if you ask me. AND he extracted the very same lines that I was going to point to. Yep.... that Andrew knows what he's talking 'bout all right. lol
It's lovely, Phil... truly.

Hey Philly ... do me a favor ... stand before a mirror and recite these lines to the image there ... and believe. You are beautiful and have truly shown that here.

You've produced something beautiful in itself here. I mean the concept was dealt with so brilliantly, and it was probably the most touching thing I've read in quite some time (and trust me, you've had a lot of competition! lol) and I'm just really impressed with it. The ending sums things up in such a great way, too, and my favorite verse would probably be the first, as it just set the mood for all others to follow. Just amazingly done. |

This is a beautiful poem with a lot of wisdom. For when the inner beauty is allowed outward overt expression, then one is truely transformed into a real beauty.I really like the rhyme and flow of this poem.
Well done, Philly

Oh wow, phil. This was, no, IS extraordinary. I must print this one out
so I can revisit it when my demons sneak in to steal my confindence
away. I'm in awe at how it simply DRIPS with altruism. A beautifully
crafted poem from a rare and sensitive soul. Bravo. Humbled, am I.
*hugs*

Anyway, well done. I applaud you for a poem well written.

This was so beautiful. It reminded me of myself. The way you described this person in your poem was just like describing me. I never can smile and it is hard to even try but when that smile happens people tell me i am beautiful but it never can last it always goes away. Great poem..
