Why

Contributed by Pinkx on Monday, 19th September 2005 @ 01:31:32 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Why are roses red and skies blue,
Why am I so small and lost?
Why does the world seem so new and confusing,
Why does Mummy shout so much?

Why do friends leave me out so much,
Why are people so cruel?
Why am I still struggling to find myself,
Why do I always feel like a fool?

Why does my heart flutter when he looks at me,
Why is it so great to be in love?
Why does my heart break so easily,
Why wasn’t he the one I dreamed of?

Why do I have to leave home,
Why do I miss my mom so much?
Why do doors keep opening and closing,
Why is life so stressful and tough?

Why is there a bump in my stomach,
Why isn’t this the life I dreamed of?
Why do her tiny fingers clench my finger so tight,
Why does it hurt to see her cry?

Why did you leave me, Mommy and Daddy,
Why do I feel lost without you?
Why have my children grown up so fast,
Why do these years fly by so quickly?

Why are my hands all wrinkled and ugly,
Why do I have to be called Granny?
Why does my life seem to be slowing down,
Why am I afraid of dying?

Why is my life slowly ending,
Why am I slowly slipping away?
Why is the light so white and bright,
Why, Lord, are the roses red?

Very well done. It's nice to let roses be red without knowing the answer.

I like how you travelled through a life time and all the stages in that time. Good job!

Jennifer

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
