Even You Have to Lay Down Eventually

LoveRemembered

I've always heard that you could conquer all. Then where in the world are you? I've waited, and I've longed for you to start working.
And you've been there the whole time.
But.
I guess that you can only take so much violence. I watched you fail today. I watched as you finally gave up the fight, stood there as your world fell down around us.
You've fought galantly, my boy, that I give you credit for. But apparently not enough...or maybe you just fought too much.
All those times that you were brought up, you wre so cherished, so worshipped and adored. And you're still here. You'll never go away, I know that, and for that I am grateful. Maybe one day you will be enough. But for now, you're only a proof of my own failures, and of our shortcomings. I'm going to miss you kid. You've been important to me. So has she. And I wish that somehow things could be different.
But I guess we can only push you so far before you give up on us and stop supporting us. I don't blame you; it was a heavy burden. Doesn't mean I wasn't willing to help you carry it. But you seem to have given up without trying to hold on. I know that's not the case but everything seems so bleak right now.
I really don't know what to say, even though these words are flowing out of me. I'm running on auto-pilot, and I wish you were here, helping me fly into the night...
Hoping tomorrow I'll wake and find today to be a bad dream...
