As I sit here in the semi-darkness
I will myself to cry.
Why do I have to be so stone cold
In my emotions?
I need to release these feelings inside
But no amount of writing will accomplish it.
Why must I hit rock bottom
Before I allow myself to cry?
I've still got bruises
From the last time I hit.
The memory is fresh.
The tears are so close.
But they remain unshed,
Waiting for the next slam into the ground.
