Did you write a suicide poetry?

Contributed by remote on Sunday, 18th September 2005 @ 01:59:58 AM in AEST
Topic: didactic

That's not very nice,is it?
you write a poem
and show up again.
All the talk and
No action.
But then, if you act,
you wouldn't be in the mess,
you wouldn't be writing
about dying.
What a shame.
Take my advice
next time you try
something stupid
make it stick
or quit whining
and start living.

(Inspired by the 'Suicide Poetry' catagory, if all the poets keep showing up again, there is no cause for worry, if they disappear after posting one of those at greater frequency, there is a cause for alarm and probably some action need to be taken, like alerting parents/cops, contact information is always available from IP addresses the post is coming from.)

This isn't a light hearted jibe, it's an condemnation. Right-on or not right-on, it's more serious than a jibe.

This could be taken the wrong way. I understand why you wrote it but for a person who struggles with depression your words could be the thing that makes him or her give up. It is what you should not say to a person who says to you thet he or she is thinking of suicide whether jibing or not!

have to agree with Archie, on this.ppl write, alot which falls from the heart. Yes, some have many depressing times, that they let it flow here. Its not that they would do, it......and some may. Yet it helps to express anything you feel. Its like having that friend, you can phone or talk to. And sometimes, that doesnt even cut it. Its better to write here, and not have to deal.! Its just yourself, and the screen....yes you know others will read....yet they can just pen what they critize on this.!

Hmmm...this is a 'jibe' alright...but a callous one. I don't agree with what you wrote here at all. In my opinion, this makes you sound heartless. Everyone has considered 'ending it all' at one point or another, and those that deny it are bald-faced liars! Poetry under the suicide category is just like any other write on here. We all write poetry to release our emotions---for better or for worse. It's a way for us to express and/or 'act out' what we can't in real life. For you to put down a fellow poet, especially one going through such a difficult time, is just wrong. I talk to several of those suicidal kids on here, on a regular basis in pm's, and they just want someone to listen to them, as we all do. People in such a dark despair need our support, NOT to be shunned even further by society. The only one I think is 'whining' here, is you. Don't read under the 'suicide' topic if you don't like it! I thank you for reading and commenting on my write, but I'm sorry, I just can't agree with this. BTW...your title doesn't make any damn sense!!

yea ... but was the poem any good?

one might not like the content ...
there is a lot of hated art in the world
that is good art inspite of their themes

but the question is, is this a good poem,
or one that has any potential?

very simply IMO ... no

it needs a lot more work and development
for it to have an impact on a reader,
be they suicidal or not ...

that to the majority the poem is in bad taste
is only a minor issue.

and really remote, why all the added and un-necessary
justifications if it is something in which you have a
profound belief in?

I wrote one sorry poem, suicide blue.. I hated it, its off my page now. and here I am. I have often thought, after that, I wish that topic was gone. I guess when I first began here, I saw a lot of suicide poems, perhaps I tried to join something where I did not need to be in. I did it.. I have felt like you since then, get that suicide topic off. raquel leah, just my thoughts

I often think of myself as a brutally honest person, but this is just sick. I don't see the humour, just lots of passive-aggressive hate.

Your title makes no sense and your "poem" is just weak prose arbitrarily broken up into lines. What else is there to say?
