My Child

The heart of my child
no longer intertwined with mine
my child is not human
but spirit in fact
my child flew away
to the top of an evergreen tree
I called and I cooed
I screamed and Ishouted
then I sat down and cried,
because my little dear child will never come home
my child is myself
I am no longer a child
I cry for my child
I wish she'd come home
but it cannot be so, because
my child flew away
to the top of an evergreen tree
