Did You Ever Wonder Why?

Contributed by kcampbell on Friday, 16th September 2005 @ 05:10:47 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Did you ever wonder why I don't cry
Why I smile so much
Did you ever wonder why I sit off to the side
Why I cringe when I am touched
Why I am never in a conversation
Only listening
Barely there
Did you ever think that I might need a shoulder to cry on
And wonder why I was in prayer
Did you ever wonder why I am how I am
Did you ever wonder why I run or if I needed a hand
Have you ever noticed me pretending to sleep through class
Aut really staring at the wall
Have you ever caught me staring out the window
Staring at nothing at all
Did you ever wonder who loves me
Did you ever wonder who cares
Did you ever notice that when I'm lonely
There isn't anyone there
Did you ever see me crying
Did you see me run away
Did you see me curl up inside my weak little shell
Where all I do is pray
Have you seen me smile for real
From the thought that I am really loved
Do you know just how it gets to me
That grace that comes only from above?
Did you know that the only way for me to be satisfied completely
Is for me to die and go to heaven and have Jesus never leave me
I bet you've never even thought about it...

Very lonely and emotional write. I truly hope this isn't how you always feel.

Good job!

Oh this poem broke my heart. When I was in high school I tried to befriend someone so similiar---as to the person in this poem. Not out of pity. I saw sadness and something more and I wanted to make it go away. Unfortunately, she was so defensive towards me that she couldnt see past what she assumed I was and the friendship never happened because of silly high school and the way everyone seemed to get lumped into categories.
You may think that no one notices all the descriptions, pain, and lonliness you described but there are people who really look at someone and try to see their soul.
Your poem just twisted me inside and I guess I wanted to give you a hug and tell you to hang in there...

Kie

You are not totally alone
Jesus is with you NOW
Keep your faith[as I am sure you have]
and He will guide you to happiness
I loved this one!
