the sweet earth

Contributed by xXxmegsxXx on Thursday, 15th September 2005 @ 11:41:01 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

my body i pray sweet earth do take
and with your devine powers new life shall you make
after I'm dead let roses bloom where I lay
make me part of the earth where life begins, i pray

once my life's gone from it may new one start
as it was made by God with His sweet heart
where one life ends, another shall begin
and so out of the dead arrive the living
life has always worked this way
from when it was made to this very day

so when i lie down on this sweet, sweet floor
take me back into the earth where I'll rest forever more
oh sweet, sweet earth mother of all
my time has come, please lay me gently as i fall

A sad, yet very true prayer. I like it because it doesn't bring a wrenching fear of death to your soul when read, but brings a relaxing embracing feeling. Nicely Done!

Well-written, very calm...

While reading this, I thought many times that you'll lose the grip on me as a reader, you didn't. A theme well handled.
