My Heart Never Listens

Contributed by Erualaitalmarea on Thursday, 15th September 2005 @ 04:42:41 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Try and try as I might
But "The One" is always just out of reach
My vision is blurred, skewed, I've lost my sight
I pour out my heart and soul to each
A silent river flows down my face and onto the floor
Again I have to shut the door
To my heart and rebuild
Another piece of me has been killed
Each man that I love never loves me
Each time I cry at night wishing I wasn't such a fool
When will these tired eyes of mine finally see?
When will love finally be kind and not cruel?
This time He shut himself away
I will never know him and so I must destroy what began to grow
I long for the day
That true love I will know
For each man my heart desires always turns away from me
I fight the beast within that rages deep inside
Telling me I am too fat, stupid and ugly
To be ever loved, it tells me to shrink and hide
Love has been a roller-coaster that only goes down, deeper and deeper into the dark abyss
making me fear and dread it for each time has meant great pain
I long for love's first kiss
And to be alive again
My heart never listens to me at all
From grace I now again fall

I saw a movie once alled. straight talk with dolly parton. A man on the show said, he always pick the same woman. never works out. Dolly said, cornflakes. he picks different packages but inside are cornflakes. so instead of looking on the outside of a person. look for the heart.. and as for yourself. that phrase love yourself first... it is true. as for the poem.. I loved it. It came together right and I understood it. and felt your pain.

I think your poem is great. On a personal note I want to be patient and wait for the love I am supposed to have. I date, I have women who are friends but no physical contact of a sexual nature until i get married. If she loves me she will be willing to wait too, if not then she is not the right person for me.

The person you belong with is always right under your nose. My husband and I were friends for 3 years before we started dating. We both were just too shy to make the first move. Just keep holding on and Mr. Right will come wisk you away. Best of luck to you. Nice poem.
