The Garden Hose

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Wednesday, 14th September 2005 @ 09:47:47 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The brick path
Which weaves and tangles through the garden
Circumvents the delicate pollen
A rare species of white rose
The green snake that mimics the garden hose

Mountain majesty
A brick house sits
In the midst of a collection of leaves and dirt
Tree stumps
Cut bark dangles off the red oak

A picket fence
Protects the rain from the wooden elements
The garden filled with dew that drenched
Exudes the nostalgia of romance
And so the squirrels do their dance
I see them stare as I walk their beaten path

Blackbirds wrestle for the lonely worm
Their chirps intended as a mating call
You can call it a love song

The gazebo they hover sits empty
The lovers were never alone
The rocks that line the trodden path are plenty
Lined with ginger, meadow roe and spring beauty
Water fountains feed the thirsty
Pine cones litter the nesting of fertility

Draw bridges
Allow access over a stream
Gliding to a sharpened apex
Rattlesnake plantain
Gender neutral without a sex
Wake robin
Protects the insects

Inscribed in the shrubs
Jacobs’s ladder climbs above
The garden is watched by the doves
In its own self sustained love
Life reaches and is alive with a thump

I have missed your work beyond the telling..
What can I say..
It's brilliant-
..divinely inspired work-
..so well written..great diction as always-

After much consideration, I have decided
to quote these words as the most inspiring to me..
(though I could quote the work as a whole..)

"The garden filled with dew that drenched
Exudes the nostalgia of romance
And so the squirrels do their dance
I see them stare as I walk their beaten path"

to mention 'imagery' is trivial..
..but yours here..has brought me to Eden.

Great to see you again jyss..

Sincerely-

Billy
