My Friend

Contributed by Niccy on Monday, 12th September 2005 @ 10:51:29 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

She is loved, says the pile of letters on her desk; she has a dog, says the toys on the floor. She lives with her dad, says the pictures on the wall; her dad is paralyzed, says the man in the bed in the other room. She recently moved in with her dad, says all the boxes on the floor; the change is tough, says the pillow soaked with tears. Her mom hurts her feelings a lot, says all the phone calls to me in the middle of the night. She goes to school with me now, says the books on the table. She's still trying to find her way around, says the map by her books. She has a lot of school work, says the four textbooks she carries around all day. She is having a hard time in school, says the failing grades; but she is trying to fix it, says the staying up late doing work. She has a boyfriend, says the letters ending with, "I love you." She is happy here, says the look in her eyes; she is happy here, says the sound of her voice; she is happy here, says the smile on her face; she is happy here, they say.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
