"Ophelia"!, "Mr. Hitch said to come on outside and get to workin! Before he come on outside here and take you into one of the slaughter houses and do his thang with you, now come on! Get to workin, get to workin' cause I'm tired of you cryin".

Thoughout the deep south and trough the neck of the woods Ophelia ran, ran, ran and ran until she couldn't run no more. Beat me, hang me, and take me away from my family, "Ms.Ophelia say's". But don't you try to lesson me, or tell me how to do things, cause I know. I listen, see and feel everything, but I wont let you know that, cause if I do you will be upset and beat me if I do.

"Ophelia run, run as fast as you can woman, make my family free"! I can't, I just can't, they wont let me. I'm stuck, blinded and comftorable enough to keep on workin so I can feed my family the only people how love me. These white folks don't care about me, so I got to do what they say or else! They hate me, they think I'm ugly and they use me. All my life I've been used abused and beatin to the no end. "Lord what am I to do? Was I that bad of a person to let this happen to me?" Karma baby, (says Ms. Ophelia). The karmic life that everybody wants to touch is you. "Karma! What is karma? "Ophelia, me. I'm karma look at me"! Tell me what you mean. I can't tell you honey, because my vocabulary skills anit good enough for you to know what I mean, cause I was taught that. But, I can show you in many powerful ways, it might make you cry, but baby I can show you. Not that my people is free, we can submerdge off to the world like flowers on steam and grow like a beautiful roses. My people is free now! The lord has set the South Straight for the last time"!

Free Ophelia! For the last time! Please free her!

"Go! Go as far as you can! Cause all the black beasutiful flowers that was just wating to blossom; you can do that now cause baby yous free now. Go do what god tells you to do and move as far as you can to see the real life! But keep in mind that "Opelia" is where you came from and don't forget it."

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
