For years I have wandered
This desolate wasteland
Swept daily clean by the wind
Erasing the footprints
That I’ve left behind me
My shadow as my only friend
Aimlessly searching
In uncertain circles
To wind up back where I began
Hopelessly helpless
And helplessly hopeless
To start each day over again
Somewhere in the distance
I feel there’s a beacon
Attempting to act as my guide
But there in the darkness
Again misdirected
The sun will be certain to rise
Perhaps I am stubborn
Unwilling to settle
Committed to endlessly try
I’m sure that it’s out there
So I’ll keep on seeking
That place I’ve been longing to find

maybe its the roads you take.........?! I beleive, we all can drift, yet we need the RIGHT road, or path to go or cross..............if you stop looking, it may be right in front of you. may peace find you and you make peace.......Good write

Mon ami, I believe this is the masterpiece that was trying to free itself long ago... Whatever inspired this melancholic yet hopeful piece of poetic perfection... should be preserved and seen by all... Maybe it will provoke something deep inside themselves to reveal itself, :-). Another luscious and vivid write flowing from your fingertips and dancing with my eyes... Absolutely beautiful, Naz... I'm glad you were finally able to express that seemingly inexplicable feeling you felt breathing inside of you. You did a marvelous job... not surprising, coming from you. Merci for sharing, cheri. Hi Naz,
Again your word selection is fantastic, you make drifting around a poetic :) experience. I really like this poem, and the imagery. Also, the rhyme pattern is quite sophisticated, I think.
......I wonder in our drifting around we sometimes need to look behind and to the ground, as much as forward and to the horizon :)....just a playful thought
