What is Poetry?

Contributed by remote on Friday, 9th September 2005 @ 09:56:14 AM in AEST
Topic: poets

Poetry is
a painter
inside the poet's head,
painting pictures-
in your head;

or

Poetry is
a conductor
inside the poet's head,
conducting an orchestra-
in your head;

or

Poetry is
the painter
painting to the tunes of the conductor,
inside
your head.

(So how's the painter and the conductor from my head behaving in yours?)

I think any of the above would be applicable at one time or another. I like to think as poetry as my inner voices talking with yours, but that is just me. Nice concept.

What a great concept!
I beleive there is a poet in us all, some are just better at expressing it than others and perhaps....some don't hear it as well....

I thought this was an excellent concept.... the repetition of the 'in your head' didn't do it for me tho....
