I’m not the one who directed your selfish needs to the man across the corner,
But he knows just where you’re from and what you need from him.
He smiles and takes a whiff of a stench that’s only gotten worse as the boards beneath your feet begin to rot and all you can do is groan.

What is truly hidden here, so unavoidable?
