The Colors of my Soul

Contributed by Archie on Thursday, 8th September 2005 @ 04:37:16 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Yellow is the color that I give unto my nieghbor
friendship true and heart of gold and gifts of hope to treasure
Blue is the color that i keep for myself
sadness and forgotten by the ones that i hold dear
Green is for my love of nature
trees of forest green
combined with azure skies renew my hope in me
Red is for my indignation to those who hurt me
I try to keep those fires down
so they don't consume me
Orange are my passions that run deep inside of me
the things I hold the closest
the things that i believe
Grey and black describe the times
my heart feels very down
I feel like giving up sometimes
like my friends all around
White is what I wish for
I wish I could feel nothing
and only do what is right
with fear or joy for nothing
If you are confused right now your color maybe brown
when you mix your colors up
all colors do abound
Cyans maroons and azure greens with reds make up the world
inspiring for the eye to see
and for the soul to feel.

You know Archie, I was asked the other day to describe the color of my sould and I had to reply ... all of them. Just as you have done here. I truly enjoyed reading this. Well penned, sir.

My colors sometimes get all mixed up, and produce a dull brown, making me feel lifeless, faded out, but that is not often.

I notice you understand color, you would make a great color artist for hair, makeup, and as a painter. I like your color wheel here. Colors are important around us.

Reminds me of when I was in art class, I wanted to go right into colors, but my teacher told me, I had to earn color, and so I had to sketch a lot of pictures in shades of gray. I learned to appreciate colors once given to me. This poem can hold someones thoughts for a very long time.
I really like it Archie, your colorful poem here creates mixed emotions as well.

My oldest son is color blind, and it was discovered when he was age 13. Some of the teachers thought he was stupid, because he could not pass the color test of dots, eye examination in grade school. I taught him to paint at an early age, and I still think back, how did he ever mix such brilliant colors. He is an oil painter like me. I asked him, how do you know the levels, shades. He told me, mom, don't you remember when I was young, how you used to get frustrated with me, because he did not seem to be able to match socks or shirts and pants. We laugh to this day. So, he told me, when I showed him his colorful clothes, and when I taught him to draw, or paint, he asked me a lot of questions, and he learned from shades of grey, depths of colors, I told him which color was used, he memorized it all. He has a very beautiful colorful personality. He can however distinguish between red, green, yellow, primary colors. Now think about it, when they made the stop, go, and caution lights out there on the road. I am sure like me, a lot of people could sit around and tell many stories about color, in color, or no color. Sorry, I commented a lot. Your poem is beautiful.
