Please hold me close
As the night darws near.
Don't let me go.
I am so scared.

Please hold me now.
I don't want you to leave me.
I swear I'll try harder
To make things better.

"Please hold me tight."
That's what I'd ask of you
Had you been here to help me,
But I suffer alone.

Please hold me one last time
As I fade away.
You came back too late,
But please don't cry.

I'll always love you...

A profound cry in the night to be held tight.
Deeply moving.
We are all held tight, but often we are not aware of it.
I know that my departed husband holds me tight by the power of God who holds us all tight.
But we are so dull and don't notice it only in a moment of light.
Thank you for commenting to my poem "The Last Birthday"
