She had a pretty pink ribbon
all tied in a bow
On top of her head,
her face was aglow
She was watching tv
when it all began
and they heard the bad news
from the tv newsman
"The storms on its way!"
the newsman had said
"Shut all your windows,
for what lies ahead"
Her mother and father
frantic and scared,
took her downstairs
where a room was prepared
They waited and waited
as the thunder got nearer
the sounds of the hurricaine
was getting much clearer
Her dad said I love you,
with tears in his eyes
but her mother had hope
she said: 'no more goodbyes'
Then they heard a loud crash
And some banging upstairs
Her mom bowed her had
and started saying some prayers
They thought they would make it
they thought it would pass
But then minutes later
their house broke like glass
Katrina had come
and commited great theft
she stole all their lives;
and a pretty pink ribbon
was the only thing left.

Oh my... that says it all, doesn't it.
This really is terrible, it's made even worse by how this is true, and these people may have lived.
I would give anything to help out over there.
This is a really heartbreaking poem.
Incredible write,
