stuck in flames

Contributed by lostrelic on Saturday, 3rd September 2005 @ 02:41:59 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

lying in the forest with the red glow surrounding animals scurry in fright
a mile away the forests burns me surround by fire's light
stuck in this inferno the heat too close for fear
as nature clears a path without the heavens shedding a tear
walking at night as my path is bright
no time to sleep in this restless night

as men scamper to put out the flames
i walk in this forest escaping the rains
this beauty of red filling the sky
wondering if i'll make it out alive

hemisphere so black as dark fades into day
i think its time to finally lay
sleep in the day surrounded by stone
a way to escape the flames alone
choking on smoke i make my way out
i knew in my heart without a doubt

Never seems to rain when fires break out.

You write a beautiful description of nature, while expressing the dangers of both animal and mankind.

It took years for me before I got to visit Yellowstone National Park. Finally made it.. saw all the most beautiful trees, colorful scenery and sulphur pools, animals, Old Faithful blowing up, and on time too, just gorgeous. A couple years later, went back, the fire destroyed a lot of its beauty.

Your write helps to remind us of natural beauty, to appreciate what we have. Mother nature has her own ideas and she can change the view faster than you can wink an eye.

Thank you Lostrelic so very much.
