Please Not Now, Don’t Go

Contributed by Rose on Wednesday, 24th July 2002 @ 10:07:47 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Has the time come?
I don’t want it to be, not now.
You both shared everything.
Gave your children love, discipline,
Knowing where they have come from.
The hopes and dreams of both being one.
Sixty-nine yrs. Of the love you’ve been.
Raising a family, loving, caring,
Whose hearts you win
Your caring hearts took me far.
Grammie and Grammpy my dear grandparents,
I’m not ready for either of you to go,
But if and when it does, I know I will see your star.
For both of you I know will show,
All you have done in your living works,
The family of four you started,
Has grown to great grandkids, I’m sure more to grow.
Times now are hard and tough for both of you,
I wish I could give you both all you need to live more happily.
Give you a new home, no stairs, appliances all to use easily.
The home you have now is falling apart
Wiring ready to burn, stairs too narrow, wood too rot.
Help for today’s old folks are not what they use to be.
The folks of today’s time, don’t understand,
They are so harried; money is time, see old ages
And think they should move on, in some old homeland.
You know, I learned a lot, still am from these old folks,
For when my time does come, I’ll be an old folk too.
So for my dear grandparents, I know your not well
But please hang on some more; I want to ring your bell.
For all to hear and see how proud, wonderful you both are.
That I, your loving granddaughter love you both so.
Please not now, don’t go.

This is how I feel about my grandparents. It's going to kill me when they have to go meet Jesus. But while they are here I'm enjoying every minute that I have with them. I love my old people. They really are terrific aren't they?! Great write!
