Unwanted Companion

Contributed by poisonpen00ad on Wednesday, 31st August 2005 @ 06:39:27 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

You came right in
sat right down
took over this place
like you own it now

You helped ease my pain
while putting my will under tremendous strain
You helped soften the blow
although effects of which I did not know

When it was time for you to fly
you did deny
You clung to me
made me want to die

I pushed you away
but came running back
I knew better
but was under attack

Fear kept you at my side
false safety that you did provide
After all you were only a tool
but foolish pride made me look the fool

Thought I could evict you at my leisure
Except I was already falling deep within your fissure
Did not have the strength to face my weakness
Unsure of what to do in the darkness

Two bright souls did light my way
gave me the courage to send you away
Now that you are in the past
Finally I breathe easy for me at last

But what of the others when you come to town
You come right in and sit right down
take over the place
like you own it now................

My mother is addicted to painkillers. Thanks for giving me another point of view. I loved it.

Thank God for inner strength and good friends. Sometimes in that type of situation the helpful cure becomes worse than the disease. I commend you highly for sharing this with us and hope others who might be addicted to pain killers realize they can live without them. There are other ways to cope.

Blessings,
Rita
