Back to You

Contributed by sprinter27 on Wednesday, 31st August 2005 @ 11:51:41 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

3 months of separation
Life of total desperation
I missed my chance to die
I missed any chance of suicide
Cause now school is back
And now you I don’t lack
You are there with your ways
So I don’t feel down everyday
You are always the one
That throws in some fun
The one that never lets me feel alone,
The one making sure I’m never on my own
So for 9 months I’ll be safe
With you always on my case,
Making sure I don’t hurt myself,
Trying to keep me from thoughts of death
I missed my chance to cause harm,
Now I’ll always be near your arms
And you’ll always be there when I want to cry
And never let me think of ways to die

Back to school?
More like back to you

Well, thank goodness for the return of the school year (and I just don't mean this as a reason to get my kids out of the house, lol). I am glad you will be required to spend another 9 months with the living. I can appreciate the pain and the choices involved, and you convey that well in your poem and I am glad there is someone to tether you to life. A well written poem that mixes the pain, the relief and some other edginess that I quite can't explain.

I don't usually read emotional poetry but I love your poetry. Well, it seems we are both going through the same thing at the moment...great write. Keep up the good work

A piece of writing that could slightly concern the respective reader. Well I for one hope you unearth inner happiness both within the school environment and without. I'm sure you eventually will.

I am a little unsettled and surprised generally by the amount of self-harm / dark poetry on this forum penned by young people. That saddens me a little as youth is the true flower of a given country. But now it's got me thinking about possible hypotheses as to why this might be. So it's not all bad. lol

Hmmm is this person who I think it is??

Well it's always a treat to see you looking at the brighter side of things, so needless to say, I liked this one alot! I certainly never looked forward to school like you!! lol Good job with this write, and those last two lines sell it.
