I know somewhere out there
beyond the dense curtain of mayhem,
there is quiet and pause..
the beginnings of peace perhaps
in some little back pocket of this city,
unmolested by restless minds,
attuned to the bedlam
and ceaseless aggression..
the merciless mass of mechanized living;
but the illusion escapes me now.
Once in the midst of chaos,
this moment beyond recollection..
I imagine peace..
and conjure up images of tranquility
in the lift and closing of an eyelid
and make it last long enough to forge a dream.
Now, only noise exists-
Only that is real where I once bled life
and imagine all my weathers to be.
My nerve endings terminate beyond here,
are beaten into atrophy..
bludgeoned to stupefied abstraction.
Not even in fractured sleep
can I grasp the torn threads
leading back to illusion.
Who is dead.. the city or I?
Whose corpse before me,
stretched rigid within the comic contours of death-
my own, or those streets that once rejoiced
in my dark and pearly time of my ascending hours?
..the answer is not here
but else where..in a maze
beyond the unraveling.
I will come back here
again and ever again..
and not ever find it again..
for not even as a ghost, am I one with it.

Woah!
I'm certain I don't have the words needed to do this justice just now. But... wow! What an excellent, excellent piece!!! You should be very proud of this, Billy... it is truly remarkable in multiple ways.

There is a depth of sadness here that seems not only acknowledged but accepted as your life. That would terrify me to accept a life like that. Not to fight back and open the curtains to a life of light and peace and inner serenity. Noise, I hate noise. The aural trama attacks the knots and tangles in ones brain and feels like it fuses them together in a solid mass of confusion. Peace, Billy, find peace and quiet for self protection. Rita |

Dearest Billy I so much feel the depth of ur sadness in this poem my dear friend. It's as if u have alot of things going on in ur life at the moment. You bring tears to my eyes for a dear friend of mine is in deep pain. May this pass u my friend and may ur life be filled with peace and serenity once again. U are in my heart and prayers dearest Billy.
Otherwise an outstanding very well expressed piece leaving the reader feeling ur pain through ur words.
Hundreds of heartfelt hugs for u,
Dreamer |

Such inner hurt, and sad. Hm.....sometimes, it better to face head on, and let peace be the inner sanctionary......but at times it cant. All knows so well, with this write. Try and see the light which was in the path and make it bright, again.!?
Always a pleasure, to read all you post.!

Hands down my new fave by you Billy...This is excellent---plain and simple. You just keep expressing your emotions and thoughts more profoundly with each post...This was remarkably sad, as nostalgia often tends to be, and your words leave a chill, especially at the end.

How alive and rich this poem is, with thruth
and depth and sad longing, that in an
unsettling way, almost reveals the answer,
then i beleive some of already know
that answer, a strong and convincing peice
of reality desguised, as poetry, Bravo . . .

Yep...........the thought of peace...is a lost cause?
I like this poem of self-reflection, amidst the chaos and fear I sense you are calm and peaceful poetic soul..
Peace is meant for you. |

My dearest .. this is so painfully raw and real in all it's sadness. That you must, attest to woeful
moments as these, brings a melancholy I am not unfamiliar with .. but am very much grieved by.
Though, I must tell you now .. these pained writes are so incredibly amazing to me. Your
own shared thoughts on mental anguish endured, bathe my heart in emotion untold.
Only a master of inspiration with genius command of the language could do that ..
I am akin to these thoughts .. and feel so much more through these lines than what is
written.
I would hold you forever, if it would ease moments like this .. truly
XO
~Breezy
