Still I Stand

Contributed by poisonpen00ad on Monday, 29th August 2005 @ 08:58:53 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Not one to ever sit upon a throne
But there is much more to me than this flesh and bone
Knowing more now than I have ever known
Your seed had failed before it was sown

Evicted with prejudice from my land
You’ve tried your best but still I stand

Brought me to the brink of failure
For a while I did fear my capture
Though my armor it did not fracture
Now watching you diminish I am enraptured

Your venom I will withstand
You've tried your best but still I stand

I denounce your kind, you filthy burl
Your demon cast out its body hurled
Hell now razed from my world
Eyes wide open, new knowledge unfurled

You underestimated my strength at hand
You’ve tried your best but still I stand

Though you are gone your stench it lingers
Always looking over my shoulder for your fingers
A day will come when you’re weak and meager
To see you eradicated I am so eager

As a plague you have scoured this land
You’ve tried your best but still we stand

I enjoyed your poem very much. The grit and determination evident in the emotion and tone of your poem is refreshing. The positive determination is admirable. I have my prostate cancer in remission now, and I am hopeful it will stay there. I am holding my own the best I can with my Parkinson's Disease, as I remain determined to maintain my quality of life.

Thanks for sharing re: your ordeal with cancer

Will

It takes a person with strong emotional strength to beat it and keep pushing till you know it is running for it's life elsewhere. God bless you all that have that strength to push on with the will to live and not succumb to it. You are all heroes in my eyes.

Blessed be,
Rita

Perhaps not the easiest of subjects to find the strength and courage to write about.
However, you handled it well and have shown everyone here your determination to overcome it

Diseases do not belong in our bodies where the most perfect, and beautiful God lives, sending you many blessings... I prayed, I understand this poem..keep praying, stand strong..
