The blade is like a needle
My blood is like a drug
Discreetly covered marks
My secret jagged lines
The sudden rush of power
The sudden loss of pain
The days are way too long
The highs are way too short
I’m running out of hiding places
I’m running out of time
Long sleeves in the summer
Please don’t ask me why
Your questions are too much
Your pity makes me sick
I just want to be alone
I just need another fix

Spot on. You have gone to the heart of the issue - the addictive aspect in the sudden adrenalin and endorphin rush, the channelling of all those disparate feelings into a focussed, concrete act, the confusion and misunderstanding by others, the leper like quality imbued by the eventually noticeable scars. Plus its a neat little poem.

I don't know about this one, it is well written, I just don't empathize with people when it comes to drugs, it's one thing I haven't gotten into. |

I love this poem. It's quite easy for a ex-cutter/cutter to understand... Cutting is so much like a drug. :)
Well done! |

good way of comparing SI to a drug. it is so true and it is so much the same thing and people dont realize that. You cant just stop because it is a huge addiction.
