My Word Is Enough

Contributed by Archie on Sunday, 28th August 2005 @ 06:53:52 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Lord I am so tired
I struggled and I failed to my charecter again
How long will I keep this up until I overcome
because this hurts too much
I let you down a bunch

Lord I am sorry
I wish that I could fling temptation far away from me
each time I fail I feel a blade cut into my soul
I feel I can't go on
I'm such a failure Lord

It's easier to give in than to fight for one more day
and that is why I'm here Lord I so much need to pray

cause

(Chorus)
Lord I am haunted by your word
It guides me when i read it
and it guides me when I don't
For a moment
I wonder
If that's what you're saying
"Archie my son
my word is enough"

I dropped the ball again
I went and lost my temper because some one was joking
I swore at them and it showed that my heart was not on you
to you I was not true
I lost my faith in you

And only at this moment
did I see another choice
only now in hind sight
do I see what I have lost

Chorus

(Bridge)
Some how
I'm gonna make it through these trials
There has got to be a lesson i must learn
Some how
I've got to see your hand is moving
and in all of this you have my best interest

(Upstep and Chorus)
Lord I am haunted by your word
It guides me when i read it
and it guides me when I don't
For a moment
I wonder
If that's what you're saying
"Archie my son
my word is enough"

(Repeat Chorus)

Notes; I had to consider very carefully if I should post this song which i have rewritten atleast two times to describe my personal state. It started out as a song about my death and has evolved into this. It is the only poem/song I have written that I felt strongly about putting my name in it. In each change I made to this poem through my life and struggles the chorus has remained exactly the same. I think today i hear God a little clearer than I did back then or atleast i think i do.I still have the original two versions i have written (1994 and 1999) that I will not be posting on site.

Good job expressing yourself in this very open, honest piece. It's good you have something you believe in so strongly. I think you said it best :

"It's easier to give in than to fight for one more day"

Keep fighting ; )

Scorp.

This song touches me because I have struggled with this same feelings over the past few months. I am just now coming to terms with God, and my own sense of failure due to a job situation. The good news is that through God, I am finding my way back. Thank you for your words.

This write brought tears to my eyes, as if I could feel God shining in my soul through your write and saying: Cindy, maybe you should be a little more like Archie at times( in the sense of thinking about God ). You are a blessed man to have the Lord in your life and to always have Him by your side. And when things get tough and it all sometimes seems too much, remember that you are His child and He will always be there to guide and protect you and He loves you unconditionnally.

*****Lord I am haunted by your word
It guides me when i read it
and it guides me when I don't

Amazing how that is, the Lord sticks by us no matter. He knows our hearts. He hears and watches our hearts. The best friend to stand beside you no matter what. Great write, wonderful insight.. wise words.

*****I'm gonna make it through these trials
There has got to be a lesson i must learn

Yes, daily devotions.. learning day by day.. There is always so much to learn each day. Never give up hope or faith. To do that, would be our greatest fall.

Bless you always,

Raquel Leah :D

You asked for guidance and help Archie.
Divine intervention let heaven intervene. Stay centred in your faith and gratitude in order to open the door to your desires.

Fabulous Archie
