Paranoid

Topic: oops

Paranoid

Walking down the cold and lonely street
Only the wind, rain and the constant swoosh
As my black leather trench coat flies in the breeze

A glance to the left, an abandoned road work sign
Stolen from further up the road
To the right two cars, you never know
They could’ve been there for the same reason

Further up a constant dribble, coming out from a flat
That’s been running for five years now, it seems
Then the bad lads' houses, with the pretty gardens
Their mothers' have to gain some sort of respect

And finally the car, that decreases speed
That makes you worry they’re stopping at your side
Makes you wonder what lurks behind the door

A flourish of panic, conveys my body
But then relief as I realize it was only my coat
And again as I hear noise behind me
But realize it was the strap of my brolly

I don’t know if its just me, my paranoid mind
Or is the world growing bleaker each day
Full of terror and violence
And people living in fear.

Splendid piece of work. I truthfully don't think it is you. I live out in the country and even we have had to start locking everything up or it disappears. I am not afraid for my life yet but the theft is becoming ridiculous. Even cattle rustling again. I can't believe it. I am having some Rottweillers trained to attack unknown people on the property. Once that front gate is locked and things are secured, no one needs to be out here. I hate it life has turned this way. Great penning, my friend. Hope to see much more. Rita
