Escape

Contributed by Mara on Saturday, 27th August 2005 @ 12:24:15 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

more than anything
I wish you’d take my hand
and we could step out of our lives
and into the darkness
we’d run through the streets
scared of this place
that ties and binds us

and catch a train,
all through the night
we’d close our eyes
and see with the silence

we’d get off in a city
that’s crisp and softly gray
we’d walk slowly on
the muddy road
we’d see the lights
of distant buildings
and lose ourselves
in the drifting snow

Great visuals for me.

I've always gotten those urges to do something rash and impractical, just to get away.

Enjoyed it, thanks.

To go off on an excursion like that would be fun atleast until I had to go back home. Your imagery in this poem is very good.

I like it and I can relate. but as good as it is to get away, isn't it always a relief to get back home?
