A fond farewell

Contributed by lostinmyself on Friday, 26th August 2005 @ 05:14:14 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I whispered words and waved goodbye,
But to an empty face,
I grabbed your hand and pulled you close,
Into a tight embrace,
I would have tried to say 'please stay'
But knew you would not hear,
'Cause I'm hugging you from far away,
Though, I wish you could be near.

I called your name into the air,
Then waited for reply,
And fingers weaved into the world,
But found you in the sky,
I know I'll always see you there,
To me you're still nearby,
For your face is there within the sun
I can see you in the shine.

I read your words into the wind,
To give the world a voice,
I couldn't let it miss the sound,
I didn't have a choice,
It held to you, and so do I,
We sing your song here, still,
They cannot let you go, dear friend,
And I know I never will.

I whispered words and waved goodbye,
A friend has gone away,
But somewhere here within my world,
I know you'll always stay.

Very well done Philly, one of your best. Your emotive words flowed smoothly throughout this sad, but tender piece. Excellent write.

awww Philly, lovely flow and rhythm.
Sad, yet it seems this has an acceptance to it as well.
Goodbyes never seem to be easy....

Your poem allowed our hearts to bend
Friends like you take away the sad and blue
Your write allowed our hearts to mend
Into the air we will sing along with you

Our heart is with you Phil, no one is alone, not even your friend.

Beautiful write to keep your friend alive forever

This one gave me chills and provoked my eyes to moisten... Incredible. I can't imagine how horrible it was to lose a friend... but you shall always have them in your heart and memories. Don't shed tears of sorrow because of them being gone... shed tears of joy for all the things you did together, and that they are in a better place, :-). As you stated in your wonderful poem, their smile is in the sunshine, their words in the wind, and their song always sung by the ones who love them. Inspirational, cheri. thank you so much for sharing, :-). All my love. forever,

Your dear friend,

~*Stephy*~ *hugs and smoochies*

Aw, PhillyG!!!! This poem sings. It flows so beautifully. It is an epitome of perfection.

Anything esle I say pales by comparison to the way this is written. Saying it is excellent seems not enough.

Wow! Okay? Such a simple word for something so brilliant but I am at a loss.

Thank you...so enjoyable.

Tim
