Living in a Shadow

Contributed by forsaken_soul33 on Thursday, 25th August 2005 @ 10:41:39 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I live in his shadow,
I try to live up to his name.
He is my older brother,
Whom everyone thinks is great.

I do my best to be noticed,
By my mother and father.
But they seem to be blinded,
And forget he has a brother.

He tells me that I'm worthless,
And that I will never have fame,
Or even a house,
Or parents who know my name.

He told me to end it,
To let my blood drain.
He said he feels sorry for me,
Because my life is such a strain.

He never lets me forget,
That he is the better son.
He always says,
That he was sent from above.

I belive him,
And to this day I still do.
I hate the living up to him.
I need someone to help me through.

I grew up in the same situation as you. It was not until my older brother used his "fame" as an excuse to steal money from my parents and he dropped out of hischool that my parents began to notice that I was doing better than they thought. Actually only my mom found out because my dad died.
