To the ones who came before

Contributed by Archie on Thursday, 25th August 2005 @ 06:24:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I looked around for my friend
I wonder where he''s gone
I never got to say the words
I kept inside unspoken

I wonder is he happy
or is his heart forlorn
I hope he''ll return soon to me
from where ever he''s gone

"You were my friend
and from a distance
I should have told you sooner how much that I cared

You are my friend
but now you''re gone away
to a place your ears will never hear me say"

In providence I''m thinking
should I go out and find you
I wonder would you listen
to the words I had to say

Would you hold it against me
the flaws that caused hurt to you
I want to bring you back
into a friendly place

This is to the ones who came before me
hearts aflame with words and courage strong
Tell me what happened to make you give up
Is there something i can do to make you strong

I heard the rumours and the arguments
I heard you say that you would go forever
I wish somehow that I could make you stay
but it is your choice you never heard my voice
you never heard the soundings of me pray

Days have past with remnants of reminders
footprints that showed you used to be here
I miss you words of truth and songs of laughter
I should not have given into my fears

This is for the ones who came before me
sharing poet''s wisdom in the storm
I wonder what you''re doing are you happy
or is your heart still bitter and forlorn

This is to the ones who came before me
hearts aflame with words and courage strong
Tell me what happened to make you give up
Is there something i can do to make you strong

On this journey life we're traveling
On this summit we are at
We see our paths together for a time
and each minute and each second
that we spend in friendship
bring up questions that disperse within your eyes

Great firend write..........as far as I see, it.true friends will always be around, and special friends will be there as well. If, they have lost touch remember them in the heart.because no one can replace.......any of that..........ever.! Just member we can only count true friends, on ONE hand.! Very nice and true write. Great post.

This is a very touching poem Archie, a tender heart voices its longing for those appreciated.
But life often separates people , As long as we have loved and appreciated them while they were around, that is all that counts.

Providence often sends people from whom we are meant to learn and they from us, and when their task is fulfilled, circumstances lead to a severance.
Part of Divine Providence
Beautiful poem Archie!

Blessings
Elizabeth
