Cinderella's Glass Slipper

Contributed by liquidsunshine on Thursday, 25th August 2005 @ 03:02:06 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Stepped on the scale, three nights--and apparently five pounds--since you let go
There have been so many things you've taught me about love
So many ways you've proved me wrong about love-- for the better, for the best
Things I never believed were truly true until you
And here's one more thing you and the scale just taught me:
"Can't eat, can't sleep" is more than a melodramatic hyperbole...
Because I realized that, while wondering how to cope and whether we'll both be okay...
I've literally forgotten how to eat...
And even unknowingly refused offers of refreshments

Thought about the ideal way to cope
Turns out what I want is to summersault, plummetting into a place where only you can contact me and you alone
Turns out what I want is as impossible as I expected to be
That expected impossibility seems to have been correct since my first comprehension of love
Which might be the one thing about love that you won't prove to be otherwise

This seems such rigamarole, such a maze to put out there,
But I'm necessarily telling you all of this indirectly
I can't say it to your face or even send it in a letter
'Cause I just know you'd just push it away
So it's here jumbled up in jibberish and analogies like fairy tales...

If someday I can still be your Cinderella (like you once said with your own two lips),
I can live happily ever after
If someday that possibility is gone forever, if you eternally knock down all my hopes
You'll still be my Prince Charming (like the charicature personifies),
But I'll be a lost and lonely, broken Cinderella who has resolved to live "as content as possible" ever after instead
My heart will always belong to you, my Prince Charming
Let the following words stand as my glass slipper, for their meaning is clear as glass:

"I will love you for eternity."

Please, please hurry to figure out if you can find and return your Cinderella's slipper
If you find that you can't...

...then just keep it

I really like this poem and i think its so real...
But, I'd like to contradict the part about living happily ever after as I don;t think it is possible to ever ever live happily ever after...
Good luck to you though...
cheers,
-glass

Sweet.... I pray your heart is in good hands... I pray that it's safe. Take care, my friend, take care. My heart weeps for yours.

Awww Chelsea...I'm so sorry you lost your prince. This may not be a 'traditional' poem, but your words and raw emotions still flowed very poetically.
Your love for him is obvious, and I hope all works out for the better in the end....*hugs*

Scorp.
(Who doesn't normally hug, but knows Chels needs one really bad)

All I can say is wow. I think this guy botched things up with you. It is hard when love is given and not returned. This poem states that clearly and bueatifly

Good thing for analogies. Sometimes they really do just speak worlds for us. I don't have the words to encourage...I hope you find rest, peace and joy, CHELSEA CHASE.
