On Our Walls

On Our Walls
~~~~
On our walls there are many pictures of you
Ranging from one month old to all the way through
Each one showing growth, each one showing grace
Each one showing the many changes of your face
They are aligned on the stairwell for everyone to see
Just how this beautiful boy came to be
Each one tells a story of how you’ve grown
And the happiness you brought into this home
One of my favorites was when you were six months old
With that cute smile that beginning to become bold
Or the one at age two with the tear in your eye
It almost brings one to mine as I walk by
Just last week you went and shot age three
What a great addition that one will be
I can hardly wait to hang it with the rest
Surely to become one of my favorites I guess
Each night as I climb the stairs to go off to bed
I’m reminded of each stage and the ones that lie ahead
For soon ages four and five will decorate these walls
Until they are full and we start in the halls
This is a very good poem. In my mind I see pictures of this person lining the walls and that is good for some one we hold dear to our heart.
Sometimes, Jeff...your poems bring a tear to my eyes..and this is one such time. I am seeing Chris' pictures gracing the walls and all I can think of is my empty picture frame....
Don't ever stop writing about Chris and your love or him....
Hugs to you both..
Jenni
reminds me of my grandmother's home.. She had two children and all the ancestral photos on her walls. I loved the end of the poem the best thought :)
